Mexico - 2024

After traveling every year from 2015-2021, I was pretty still throughout 2022 and 2023. The itch came back as the calendar flipped into 2024. Originally, I was all set for a solo trip to Berlin, but when the unexpected chance to join an equine retreat on a Mexican countryside ranch presented itself, my inner 'horse girl' just couldn't say no. I spent part of February there eating home cooked meals, cantering through (extremely) wide open spaces, finding Orion in the night sky, and waking up with the sun. I followed up the quiet with a few blissfully anonymous days in San Miguel and Mexico City. There wasn’t an agenda in sight; I was just bopping around aimlessly hoping to bump into cheap thrift shops, good coffee, and quality people-watching.

The sun not only thawed me out after a winter in NYC, but also Mexico's vibrant color palette and laid-back atmosphere rekindled something within me that had been dormant for too long. This trip served as a powerful reminder of why travel should always be a priority in my life. For that — and for the incredible food, plentiful beer, adorable dogs, and the warmth of your people — Mexico, you'll always have a special place in my heart.
